David McCarty challenges Kentucky Wal-Mart construction
On the one hand, I like that this guy has decided to fight for his rights…well, sort of fight, I guess, if you consider sitting in a lawn chair in your backyard fighting. (I totally do since it appeals to my lazy side like nobody’s business. Besides that, Gandhi was a big fan of the non-violent protest, and who am I to question Gandhi’s ideas? I’m a good Hindu, you know. :sniff: You hush about the meat-eating. I’m still a good Hindu mostly.)
On the other hand, I can’t help but believe that he’s doing this to force Wal-Mart into buying his property (at an inflated price) just to get rid of him. That makes it a little less admirable, I guess, since it’s less about stickin’ it to da man and more about filling up his own pockets — which my black, tarry, capitalist heart can’t denigrate, but I do realize it’s not exactly a noble motive. Unless he donates all the proceeds to some cause, I guess.
At any rate both hands think this oughtta be fun to watch. Well, that’s what I think they’d think if they had separate brains of their own. Since they’re both attached to *my brain, they’re sort of forced into the whole deal.
