Privacy Policy
It seems like I ought to have one of these since there are several places where you’re asked to give me some information about yourself.
The privacy of the visitors to quirkyblogger.com is important to me, suuuuper-important. No, I mean it’s really, really important to me.
I recognize that privacy of your personal information is important to you, too. Here is information on what types of personal information I receive and collect when you visit quirkyblogger.com, and how I safeguard your information. I never sell your personal information to third parties. Ever. That’s just not something I will ever do. Promise.
E-mail addresses, Names and Websites
You’re asked to give your name and e-mail address in order to submit comments or to contact me. (Your website is always optional.) That’s it, that’s all. Your e-mail address is never shared publicly or with any third parties. I also don’t use the e-mail addresses collected to contact anyone personally, unless it is at their request.
Oftentimes, I visit commenters’ websites and leave comments for them. If this is something you don’t want to happen, simply say so. I’m cool like that, I promise. Alternatively, simply leave the “website” fields of any comment or contact form empty.
Log Files
As with most other websites, I collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit my site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited my site and which pages you visited throughout my site.
Cookies and Web Beacons
I do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit my site. This could include something like having the comment form filled out with your information each time you visit.
I also use third party advertisements to support my site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on my site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google, through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit my site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites). If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, click here.
Also, you can chose to disable or selectively turn off my cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with my site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
I’m not responsible for what any other sites do, however. (This would include any of their privacy policies.) The fact that I link to them or use their services only means I dig them, not that I’m in control of how they operate. In other words, my privacy policy applies to quirkyblogger.com alone and is subject to change periodically as I get less clueless about how to run a site.
AdSense Privacy Policy Provided by JenSense. With my eternal thanks because I sure didn’t want to do it from scratch.
