As I mentioned earlier, I was in a baking/cooking frenzy this weekend. Yet another item on my 101 in 1001 list of things to do was “Bake really awesome bread from scratch” or something like that. So I figured I could make focaccia or something similarly easy and mark it as done. But c’mon. I didn’t start that list to take the easy way out. What was I really in the mood for. Something yummy, something that I could toast and something that I could spread liberally with butter. Then I found it. Oh, and apologies for the craptacular pictures. They looked clear on the 3″ screen when I took them. My bad.

Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread: So yet again, I was going thru blogs that I like and I came across this. I often buy this type of bread in the grocery store (which has an ingredient list that’s a mile long and is full of names I can’t pronounce) for toast and the like in the morning. Plus if I was going to do it, I was really going to make a bread that I wanted to eat. Again, I decided on one that got awesome reviews from the blogger. I also wanted to try one from a blogger I trust (meaning that their food always looks amazing and I’ve tried something that they’ve posted before and liked it).

Verdict: It truly was amazing. More than that it was EASY. So easy. Of course I used a kitchen aid mixer which took a lot of the hassle out of the kneading process. The swirl process was also much easier than I’d anticipated. All you do is roll the dough out into a sheet, sprinkle and roll. It had a nice crispness to the crust as well as a soft interior. Exactly how you want a bread to be. Also it made enough for two loaves of bread so I gifted one to my fabulous cousin who buys the store bought swirl bread almost every week. Later I got a text from her that said she’d tried it and it was “wickedly awesome”, this is Massachusetts mind you. I also cut a few slices for my mom to test out and she absolutely loved it. So 3 in favor of how good this bread was. I just can’t wait to see how the french toast made with this bread comes out. If I had to make a wager? FAAABBUULLLOOUUSSS!!!
