So, I’m giving it to you. A contest. Unlike previous contests, though, the winner of this one is going to be picked through purely subjective means - the one I like best wins. With that said, on to the details…

I have a $50 Amazon gift certificate to give away. What do you have to do to get your (figurative) hands on it? Simple - just leave a comment here telling me what you’re going to do with it if you win. If yours is the one I deem best, you’ll find yourself the lucky owner of a brand spankin’ new Amazon GC. Easy-peasy, right?

There’s just one clause here, though…
While I do not run what could ever be construed as a “family-friendly” website, I do try to keep this bad boy to a PG-13 (okay, sometimes, R) rating. If you’d use that GC to buy adult toys, I don’t want to know about it. In other words, lying is okay.

In fact, lying is okay, even if you’re not going to buy adult toys. I’m not going to do any fact-checking. I won’t ask you for the receipt of your purchase. This contest is about creativity, not truthfulness. Also? Excessive flattery of the contest judge is encouraged but not required. With this, too, veracity is optional.

The contest starts today and ends at 5:00 PM (Eastern) on Thursday, April 24, 2008. The winner will be announced Friday, April 25, 2008 by…well, hopefully, by noon, but let’s be realistic about my schedule and say 5:00 PM.

Enough of my babbling…get your commenting on, y’all.

Okay, I think I’m going to go for truth here and say that if I won the Amazon GC from the most wonderful and awesome blogger in the world, I would probably use it to go towards a brand spakin’ new camera lens. My current camera lens is good but not adequate for my needs. In other words, it won’t take what I see in my magical minds eye. This is frustrating to me.

Also, if I were to win and use it to buy an awesomely rad camera lens, the former lens, would go to the most awesome blogger of all–Steph. And my new lens would also be used to take beautiful and wonderful pictures of Steph and her gloriously beautiful children that could be keepsakes forever and she could hang them in her house like a gallery showing off her beautiful children and family.

    The end. I win!

d - While your entry is much-appreciated and is certainly a contender, I probably should wait until everyone gets a chance to enter before I declare a winner. ;)

Even if I don’t win, I still declare myself the winner because I rock. LOL

  • 5 WickedWonder // Apr 19, 2008 at 9:41 pm

If I win, I’m gonna buy lots of books! Books, and possibly a DVD, because I’m boring, but also, I’m a nerd. I have a wish list a mile long, and I’m always putting off book purchases in favor of, say, food and bills. (Yes, my book bill was *that* much.) So right now I’m book deprived, and I messed up my cell phone today, and am gonna have to replace it to the tune of 110 dollars, which I so don’t have. That means I’m even poorer than I started out. Boo! But I’m sure that the books I would buy with the GC would cheer me right up! Oh, and I might buy something for my little Booter. So, a sob story, shameless begging and a baby. I gotcher winning entry right here!

  • 6 Steph // Apr 19, 2008 at 10:51 pm

d & WickedWonder - I’ve reconsidered the judging. I’m copying and pasting the entries into Notepad (without names), printing them out and having Lenna draw one from a hat.

  • 7 Deb // Apr 19, 2008 at 10:57 pm

I would use it to buy several of these, because in my experience, you can never have too many.

Of course, if I should win, I will not be able to provide independent verification of said purchase.

  • 8 Steph // Apr 19, 2008 at 10:59 pm

Deb - Depending on which style you chose, I might have to reconsider reconsidering the judging here.

  • 9 Deb // Apr 19, 2008 at 11:02 pm

I would be proud to be the one who brought back the reconsideration of the reconsidering.

Deb - All I’m saying is that if you’re not ordering the Badonkadonk Tank, the Southwestern chicken head is mighty persuasive here.

  • 12 Eden // Apr 20, 2008 at 1:26 am

I heard about this from Deb. You know, I actually have a just-under $50 adult toy… er… massager on my wishlist. That said, I’d more likely put it towards a Roomba Scooba.

  • 13 bb // Apr 20, 2008 at 7:36 am

Oooo! $50 to Amazon? It’s a no-brainer what I’d do with it, cos it sure leads me to book heaven! I’ve got so many books on my TBR list and that GC would do wonders. And, of course, I want to get my husband a few books too!! Thanks so much for a chance. Hope your cute Lenna picks out my name! :P Have a fab Sunday!

  • 14 Missy // Apr 20, 2008 at 9:09 am

Okay because I’m super lame…If I got a $50 gift card from my IDK BFF Stephteph I’d probably by an insane amount of books. Or shoes. Perhaps I can lure you with the shoe proposition. Perhaps I’d put them toward Jimmy Choo’s or a fresh fly pair of Weitzmans. Yeah shoes. I know your penchant for pretteh shoes. But because I can’t lie to you it’d probably be books dude. But they’d get read and I promise to talk about how awesome they were lol. And telling you that I have much love for you is in no way, shape or form an effort to butter you up.

  • 15 Robbi // Apr 20, 2008 at 10:46 am

I have to think. I’ll be back later. I might have to lay down . And have a drink. Or two. But it’s too early for that, so I need some time. Also too early for a nap, given that I just woke up. Prepare to be amazed and impressed, though. :::cough, cough, gag, gag:::

  • 16 Steph // Apr 20, 2008 at 11:22 am

Missy - It’s all good. I can already tell I’m not going to be able to pick. I’m going back to picking one at random. Maybe. LOL

Robbi - You know, this comment all by itself has me giggling. Maybe that should count as an entry.

  • 17 Steph // Apr 20, 2008 at 11:24 am

Eden - The Roomba Scooba is a noble choice. (And the adult toy thing? I’ll make an exception for yours. And the party sheep.)

bb - Books are another way into my black and tarry little heart. :)

  • 18 Robbi // Apr 20, 2008 at 2:20 pm

Well, shoot, my ideas for things to spend the 50 bucks on keep getting shot down. Apparently Amazon is uppity and doesn’t sell freakin’ Grey Goose? I know, right? Anyway, I was going to share with you, so that should count still, I think. Now, I don’t know what to buy. I’m still thinking. Unless you’re of the “it’s the thought that counts” school, and will allow this to be my entry.

  • 19 Jess // Apr 20, 2008 at 2:56 pm

Hmm, what would I buy…*starts browsing Amazon.com* Holy cow! When did Amazon.com get musical instruments?! Maybe I’ll get a woodwind instrument….like the recorder….maybe a used recorder? *thinks* Um, never mind, not used, hehe. Okay, well, I live in Canada so my Amazon.com picks are quite restricted to only books, music and DVDs.

Alrighty, so, I would definitely buy some books here and there…maybe some music…and then purchase a few TV seasons or DVDs. Haha, yay to restrictions. I might have to hold onto the gift card though…so I can get Ugly Betty - Season Two. ;)

  • 20 Kristen M. // Apr 20, 2008 at 3:35 pm

I love books. I’m a book hog. But what I really need are shorts…I threw out my ratty pairs of shorts last year and desperately need some new diggs.

  • 21 Melanie // Apr 20, 2008 at 3:57 pm

    Hello Steph-
I’m new to your blog (found it through sandiegomomma.com) and looking forward to perusing the site. If I won the GC, though I’d be tempted to buy books or shoes just like the other posters, the practical side of me wins and I’d use it toward a new iPod. The folks at the Apple store say mine is toast and I need something to take on my walks or I won’t go and then I’ll never lose the baby weight I promised I’d lose before I find a new job. By choosing me, you’ll be contributing to my health and overall wellbeing. My family would thank you.

  • 22 Steph // Apr 20, 2008 at 4:26 pm

Robbi - You know mentioning the words “Grey Goose” make me get all daydream-y and wistful for that few days I lived la vida Paula. So, yeah, that entry totally counts since I didn’t read past “…going to share with you.” We’ll call ‘er good.

Jess - I will refrain from my almost-compulsive desire to do a McKenzie brothers impression. I will also refrain from ending every sentence I write to you with “eh”. Even if you don’t win the contest (and there’s no reason you wouldn’t), consider that my gift to you. And everyone else who reads this thing. Also? Amazon won’t let you buy Deb’s drunk chicken heads? That is reprehensible.

Kristen M. - It *is getting to be summer…
Also? Thanks for leaving a link to your blog. I love it when people do that. I’m a complete blogaholic, especially when the very first entry makes me laugh right out loud.

Melanie - Well, HIYA! Thanks for visiting! I do hope you’ll find at least a few things to read that don’t bore you to tears over here. :) And UFF DA - you hit me with the weight loss thing. Man alive. I’m back to picking at random.

  • 23 Eden // Apr 20, 2008 at 4:50 pm

Oh, now, I’d never seen the party sheep! Is there a party cow that I could fling over the wall of my castle?

  • 24 fredlet // Apr 20, 2008 at 5:49 pm

    Oooh! Imaginary shopping!
I’m currently letting my OCD roam wild and free and I would get lots of those SnapLoc ware containers (the ones that stack soooo nicely) and do my pantry…
    (here’s the URL: http://www.amazon.com/Airtight-Food-Storage-Container-Rectangular/dp/B0000YZJMU/ref=pd_sbs_hg_title_1)

    Mmmmm….OCD.
    I’d take pictures of course.

  • 25 Steph // Apr 20, 2008 at 6:26 pm

Eden - You know, I haven’t seen one. Perhaps you have a new gig? I bet those suckers would sell out quick in some of the Midwestern states.

fredlet - See, I’m thinking you might have read some previous posts around here in order to know that besides ADD, OCD is my favorite disorder.

  • 26 fredlet // Apr 20, 2008 at 6:37 pm

Isn’t OCD *everyone’s* favorite disorder? (wait…is that a contradiction in terms?!)

  • 27 Steph // Apr 20, 2008 at 6:46 pm

fredlet - That was my assumption, too! Apparently, though, my husband does not find this particular disorder the least bit amusing. But I think he’s just mad that I spend more time arranging my sock drawer than watching TV with him.

  • 28 fredlet // Apr 20, 2008 at 6:49 pm

I’m just happy that the boyfriend has no issue with my organize-y things or all my bags.
He’s just happy he can get me electronics instead of flowers. ;) (bonus: if I let him get stuff like video iPods, I don’t have to listen to the TV.)

  • 29 Steph // Apr 20, 2008 at 6:55 pm

fredlet - See, this was one thing Bill and I had to work out: flowers die; iPods say “I love you” for at least a few years.

  • 30 tams // Apr 20, 2008 at 7:13 pm

    I hope this works. :)

Hmmm…what would I do with a $50 GC? Ummm do they sell houses on amazon?!?! lorrrd.

    But ..I digress…

Stephy in all honesty, I would probably buy a CDwalkman type thingy…anything to help me get some peace in his madhouse.

Tams - I hear you. Hopefully, it will all be over soon with the best possible outcome. :)

Thordora - I’m pretty sure I saw some for $20. EXCELLENT choice.

  • 34 ayeita // Apr 21, 2008 at 2:32 pm

Ok, I know this may sound lame but I have a very good reason for what I would buy. I would buy a new pair of shoes. I had my first surgery on my feet for osteomylitis/MRSA back on Oct. 16, 2006. (Originally they said I would have to have my right foot amputated but I put the kabosh on that rather quickly!) I have not been able to wear a shoe since. My cane and I have been hobbling around with bandages on “our” feet, wound vacs and diabetic boots since. I got my first clear MRI 2 weeks ago meaning my foot is finally FINALLY osteomylitis free. w00t! Glory DAY I am going to enjoy being able to slip my foot into a shoe for the first time in nearly 19 months and take my 14 month old daughter for our very first walk together in her stroller. (I would have to buy backless shoes but I can handle that!)

  • 35 Missy // Apr 21, 2008 at 3:05 pm

If my name gets picked out of the hat send the GC to ayeita please. Thats an amazing story!!!

  • 36 matteroffactmommy // Apr 21, 2008 at 3:16 pm

i will buy a pair of shoes… or two… because every time i step into a store, every penny is spent on the children. and i could use a new pair of shoes. ;)

  • 37 Steph // Apr 21, 2008 at 4:53 pm

ayeita - Whoa. Also? YAYAY!! I’m so glad you’re doing better!! This makes me happy!! It also thrills me that B’s mama will be able to do stuff with her with less hassle! :)

    Missy - Right?

matteroffactmommy - As a total shoe hussy who also has to sacrifice for the kidlets, I so relate. SO, SO, SO relate.

  • 40 Loren // Apr 22, 2008 at 4:13 pm

IF I won the Amazon gift card, I would buy some CUTE, much needed new baby fandangle for our NEW THIRD baby on the way!!!

…Then I will buy more earplugs, condoms, and ALCHOHOL (if they only sold the last!!)

    :-)

  • 41 Steph // Apr 22, 2008 at 6:51 pm
