Photography.

So, as we discussed yesterday, I’m going to do the 365 Days of Photos thing. (Go here and look, if you want.) Today I was thinking about photography and how it’s very much become my preferred creative outlet. More than writing, more than my comedy, more than anything else, my camera is my means of expressing my perspective of the world to the world. Do I always take good shots? No. Do I always get what I see in my head to come out on film (well, figurative film)? No.

But every time I pick up a camera, I feel a little thrill in my soul. When I’m taking pictures, I feel like I have a voice that’s about to be heard…and better still, enjoyed by others. Unlike my actual voice which is heard but not necessarily enjoyed, but I digress. When I get the shot I see in my head to be the same shot on my camera, my heart dances with joy, pure joy. When I don’t get the shot, I simply find a new perspective or take another shot. Eventually, my camera and my subject and I will do the dance that creates photos I love.

Except.

My dog. My dog is the worst subject ever. Oh, she’s a pretty dog, and she’s fairly well-behaved, but there is no dancing to be done with this dog. There is no joy. There is simply the hope that she’ll stop licking her butt or sniffing ours long enough for me to get a shot of her face. I have to adjust my horizons with this dog, and frankly, I think that’s probably a good thing, lest l’artiste develop delusions of grandeur.

I mean, really — how is this artistic?

I think I’ll just stick with taking pictures of the baby.

You've got something to say? Great. That goes here. First time commenters have to go through the moderation process, but after that, you're all set. Unless you're a complete buttface.

Dude, animals are SO hard. I can’t count how many I beleted of my cats dude. And I think cats are easier than dogs because they don’t move as much. But even still.

I dunno I kind of like that shot of the dog. Dogs always have such unabashed love and overwhelming devotion in their eyes and face. Really though, few pictures beat the baby. I mean look at those eyes and that tiny little nose.

d - I think dogs are easier — they can be trained to sit. LOL.

    Missy - Thanks. :)
