So, Bill was laid off today. I could rant and rave about it, but I’m not terribly upset. Right now, though, we’re still at the start of a decent severage package, and this layoff just confirmed my belief that we’re supposed to go back to Kansas City to be nearer his family. Maybe if he’s still jobless in a month or two, I won’t be so calm. I have a feeling, though, that he’ll find something relatively quickly. I said so, so it must be true.
At any rate, until he does find another job, he’ll be home with us. I’m kind of liking this idea. It’ll sure be helpful to have another adult around to take care of Tricia while I do stuff around the house. Might my laundry actually get done? Might I start getting Wednesdays with Tricia done on Wednesday AND early enough to be viewed on Wednesday? Dare I hope?
On a serious note, both of us are feeling relatively okay about this. It happened at a craptastic time of year, especially since I hadn’t even started my Christmas shopping yet. (D’OH!) But maybe this was a good time for all of us to learn about being happy with the stuff you have, instead of being sure more stuff will make you happy. Or something like that. Also, I cannot discount the idea that there really is a message for us about getting back to the Midwest since both of us would freely admit that Bill wouldn’t have looked terribly hard for a new job (anywhere) as long as he had this job.
So. Now that I’ve expended my allotment of optimism today, I’m going to go soak in a hot tub and sleeeeep.
