So, Tuesday we’re leaving for Missouri. We’re spending Thanksgiving with Bill’s family. Part of me is excited about this trip. I mean, I get to show off the kids. I get to spend time with Becky. I get to stay in a wonderful hotel in a wonderful part of Kansas City. (Picspam will abound when we get home, I’m sure.)

Another part of me is less excited as we’ve chosen to make this a roadtrip. Now, I love Bill. I do. But roadtrips are bad for our marriage because I get road rage extraordinaire become a raving lunatic am a little stressed out in the car. Plus, I get carsick pretty much anytime I do anything but drive or ride. No books, no games, nothing. So, I focus on the trip, especially Bill’s driving.

My husband, wonderful man that he is, doesn’t realize he’s not the driver he believes himself to be. In his own head, he’s as capable as Jeff Gordon behind the wheel of a car. In reality, he’s…well, he’s no Jeff Gordon. He’s not even a Robby Gordon. (The NASCAR fans will get this. For the rest of you, Bill’s not the best driver ever. I do believe Missy can verify.) So, we spend a lot of the trip with me pissed off and him telling me why I’m wrong for being pissed off. It’s not a happy thing.

But this time, I have a plan. And hundreds of CDs which have been put in alphabetical order so that I don’t have to spend much time reading CD covers to play DJ for the entire two days we’ll be on the road. Maybe this trip will not involve free and open use of words like jackass, moron, stupid f**ker, etc. That’s my hope anyway. Barring all else, I have Ambien, and I will take it to sleep through the whole thing.

At any rate, I’ll be taking my laptop with me, but I don’t know that I’ll be online much. After all, this is Miss T’s first visit to see her daddy’s family, I would expect them to hold us hostage want to spend time with her. Also, shopping on the Plaza during the holidays is awesome, and I have yet to even start my Christmas shopping. (You overachievers who are already done or nearly done or even have it started can just keep quiet.) I figure Becky + Steph + Plaza = more shopping fun than I care to think about or my black and tarry heart might burst.

So, if I don’t manage to make it to your blogs before we get home next week, Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
