I know that my randomness is something that some people love about me. Those are the people who call it randomness, instead of ADD. I love them back. Now on to the post…

I want to talk about my ideas about losing weight, and some things I’ve been turning over in my head. However, I don’t much care to open the can of worms that will be opened by me doing so. It’s a dilemma. Suffice it to say that I’m still busting my butt and fighting the good fight, but my attitude and approach have changed significantly. When I’m more ready to deal with the possibility of debate, I’ll post more about this.

Next up, my religion/spiritual path…I’ve been asked if I’m really a Hindu. It depends on your definition of a Hindu. I wasn’t born Hindu, nor are either of my parents Hindu. This alone is enough to exclude me from some sects. I eat meat on occasion regularly every day, and that’s a wee bit of a no-no since part of being Hindu is respecting other sentient beings. (It’s a karma thing.) The trouble is that I don’t see cows, chickens or turkeys as being too much above plants when it comes to thinking and feeling. I’ve been around these animals; they aren’t much more than walking plants. Really. Pigs, on the other hand, are some smart mofos. Plus, pork makes me poop. A lot. I digress.

At any rate, if by “Hindu” you mean someone: who believes in the concepts of dharma, karma, moksha and samsara; who practices bhakti; and who believes that God’s house has many doors, then I am most definitely a Hindu. (And I’m a Hindu who gave the world’s simplest definition of one of the world’s most complicated religions. My best advice to anyone who’s interested in really learning about Hinduism is to go and read as much as you can. You will never learn all there is to know about the Sanatana Dharma. Well, not all in one lifetime anyway.)

I happen to love what Gandhi had to say on the matter of whether or not he was a Hindu — “Yes I am. I am also a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist and a Jew.” That was one hep cat, in my opinion. Much like him, I am a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Jew, a Wiccan, most other religions, because I see value in all of those paths. I see Truth in all of them; some have more Truth than others, but I think they’re all valid paths to God.

Whew. That wore me out a little. I thought I had more to say, but I’m all done now after all.
