I know, I know. I promised an edition yesterday. Here’s where the plan fell apart — the footage I want to use was captured with our camcorder, rather than my trusty camera. This leads me to a rant.

What asshat decided that saving camcorder files in a format that was unusable on a computer (without the use of expensive software which did not come with the camera) was a good idea? Further, why did my husband think that buying a camcorder which has no means of saving footage, other than through said format, was a good idea? I wanted a camcorder with a memory card/stick, but no. He had to have the one with mini-DVD capability.

Now do we own a DVD recorder which would make copying these DVDs to send to friends and family a possibility? Why no, we do not. Do we own the software which would convert those frigging VRO files into something with which I can actually work so that we could e-mail/upload those files to friends and family? No, we do not. Have we ever watched any of those mini-DVDs he had to have with friends and/or family? No. We have not. Is it much more expensive to use the mini-DVD-R/RWs than to use a memory card/stick? Why yes. Yes, it is. Does it make me insane that I can watch the DVDs on my computer, but I cannot save or edit them? Yes. Yes. And yes.

At any rate, I do believe I have some old footage that I can use, so later on, we’ll have a Wednesday with Tricia: Suuuuper-Late Edition.
