Most of you know I don’t generally post about news or current events, although the occasional commentary on a celebrity story might escape into my blog. That’s not because I don’t have any interest. I simply refrain from commenting because I’m not interested in turning my blog into a debate forum.
Having said that, I’d like to direct you to an article written by Naomi Wolf which Lisa posted on her blog. For me, it summarizes everything I’ve felt since the first time I heard about the travesty that is the Patriot Act. I told Bill in 2002 that I was seeing more and more resemblances to Germany in the ’30s. Since then, I have only become more convinced that we Americans cannot, must not become complacent about this land we love and the freedom we so often take for granted.
What is the solution here? I don’t know. What I do know is that we are still a democracy. Our voices are still heard. I think maybe it’s time for Americans to get together and do a little shouting, my friends.
