Like my shiny new Blackberry. First, let me point out that we paid nothing for this phone. (Bill had a $20 credit on his account.) And hoo boy, does this thing make my heart beat just a little faster. In addition to all the things I knew and loved about my old Blackberry, this sucker has a much prettier housing, plus it’s got a much broader range of capabilities. And holy crow, have folks been adding new apps for these things!
Take, for example, GMail. Back when I had my old Blackberry, you had to use your browser to get to GMail’s (still beta) mobile page. Now? There’s a handy dandy little application that handles up for you. No muss, no fuss — just the way I like it. And Google isn’t the only company to hop on this particular train, and about damn time, I say.
So, while I liked my old Blackberry, I now completely understand why people have referred to these things as Crackberries. Even my sad, stay-at-home self carries this phone around with me so as to not miss a single message. Yes, it’s sad, but hey, a girl’s gotta get her kicks somewhere; right?
Now that I’ve squealed like a schoolgirl about my new toy, I’ll move on to something else altogether. As most of you know, I’ve struggled with bouts of insomnia for years now. I’m in the middle of a wicked fierce one now. The hardest part, I think, is breaking the cycle. It seems like the longer the bout lasts, the less sleep I actually need.
I’ve had 9 hours of sleep in the past 72, and while I’m absolutely dog-tired, I don’t feel the least bit sleepy. I’m not sure what starts or ends these little rounds of insomnia, and research (y’all know how I love Google) hasn’t given me any magic trick that helps. Although I have found lots of little odds & ends of trivia re: insomnia like lists of famous insomniacs, quotes about insomnia, etc. which has at least helped kill the hours of glassy-eyed boredom and exhaustion.
Anyway, I sure wish whatever magic ends this would hurry up and happen, but until then, do any of you have any tried & true methods to “cure” insomnia? Even if they don’t work for me personally, you’ll entertain me with new lore about insomnia, and I know y’all love to entertain.
