Somehow, living in Stepford has started to warp me. I’m actually doing neighborhood crap and enjoying it! For those of you who don’t know, I’m a skosh anti-social. Not in the classic sense of the word, I guess. I don’t have anti-social tendencies or anything. (Well, not many.) But I just don’t have much interest in meeting new people, making new friends, etc. No, that’s not true, either. Crap, how do I explain this?
Okay, I like meeting new people, but I don’t like weeding out the potential friends from the “are you fkn KIDDING me, loser” types. And it seems like most of the people I’d been meeting for the past couple of years are that latter category (offline, anyway — I seem to get lucky with my online friends). So I tend to avoid super-social situations, like neighborhood parties, for example.
But here in Stepford, I find myself *wanting to go to these events to hang out. Last night, we went to the “Last Swim” pizza party, and I had a ton of fun! I was a shade surprised that: a) I wanted to go; b) I liked nearly everyone there; and c) I had fun. It was really pretty super. :)
I also joined the neighborhood book group. And I’m excited about it. What is happening to me?!?! LOL. (Our book, by the way is The Kite Runner. If you haven’t read this, READ IT!! OMG!!)
Anyway, if I start talking about aprons or potlucks or any shit like that, y’all help me.
