Whittington did not get into the details of the shooting, but expressed gratitude to the medical staff who has been treating him and said of the vice president, “My family and I are deeply sorry for all that Vice President Cheney has had to go through this past week.”
Anyone who knows me knows I was going to make a punny here. I mean, there are so many from which to choose. However, after reading Mr. Whittington’s comments, I decided not to demean this man. I don’t really know anything about him, but anyone who can say the above and *mean it deserves a little respect. “I just got shot and had a heart attack, but man, that poor Dick Cheney, he’s *really been through some bad times.” How can you *not respect that kind of grace under fire? (Ok, I couldn’t *totally resist. It wouldn’t have been me.)
